We are incredibly proud of our SIMR trainees and can’t wait to see what they all do next!
Natalie Broussard
Natalie interned in the lab of Dr. Rhoel Dinglasan and was mentored by PhD candidate Jasmine Ayers. During her internship, she evaluated the transmission-blocking properties of niclosamide against Zika virus.

Alyssa Goodyear
Alyssa interned in the lab of Dr. Linda Bloom and was mentored by Savannah Pollenz. During her internship, she characterized interactions between E. coli single-stranded DNA binding protein (SSB) and the helicase YoaA-X.

Meera Nair
Meera interned in the lab of Dr. Stephanie Karst and was mentored by postdoctoral fellow Dr. Marco Grodzki. During her internship, she studied the role of host factors EDC4 and XRN1 in promoting human coronavirus replication.

Quyen Nguyen
Quyen interned in the lab of Dr. Stephanie Karst and was mentored by PhD candidate Amy Peiper. During her internship, she worked on the development of a reporter murine norovirus to study virus-host intestinal epithelium interactions.

Tafadzwa Mapiki
Tafadzwa interned in the lab of Dr. Scott Tibbetts and was mentored by PhD candidate Natalie Martinez. During her internship, she performed phenotypic characterization of a mouse model of gammaherpesvirus tumorigenesis.

Kathryn Savage
Katie interned in the lab of Dr. Jose Lemos and was mentored by postdoctoral fellow Dr. Kaylie Lam. During her internship, she studied microbial interactions in a dual-species model of Lactobacilli-Enterococci biofilm.

Eleanor Wind
Ellie interned in the lab of Dr. Zsolt Toth and was mentored by PhD candidate Kenzie Spires. During her internship, she studied the viral hijacking of host E3 ubiquitin ligases to promote the Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus (KSHV) lytic cycle.
